Smooth edge of solidified circle?

After applying the solidify modifier to an imported SVG circle, the edges have visible faces that I’d like to get rid of, but can’t. Suggestions?


Ensure you are using smooth shading


You may want to add an Edge Split modifier after the solidify to maintain the sharp edges top and bottom.

Here is what I got:


And here is what I did:

  1. Converted the curve into a mesh (Alt-C -> Mesh from Curve into Obj mode)
  2. Turned on smooth shading (left part of the picture, looks bad as you can see)
  3. Added Edge Split modifier
