network rendering in local network

Hy,

I wanted to use a few computers I have at home to help with big renders to reduce rendertime. For this I tried blender network render addon. I have two instances of blender open on my main machine (client and master). I started the master service, but on the other computers, I get an error that “no master is detected on network”. I have no idea why the others would not be able to detect my main machine. I tested and was perfectley able to ping from any machine to any other.

Any suggestions?

Even though it’s not ideal, try typing in the IP address of the master computer into the Address field in your Network Settings on your client and slave computers. I’ve had trouble with this before, and I think that was the solution.
