Realistic Grass Attempt

Through the help of the community, I have created my first big (kinda) project. Took roughly a week and a half, maybe more. Also my first serious attempt at grass.
Render Time: 4-7 hours on CPU

I really like this. The grass blades don’t hold up to close inspection though. They have no structure, veining or ridges, giving the impression they’re made out of crinkly plastic. I know the detail would slow your renders down even more, but I think some reference work is in order. Search for some macro photos of grass blades and you’ll see what I mean. :slight_smile:

I actually tried this with previous renders, but it made the grass look horrible and solid and I had no idea how to fix it :frowning: .

Have you tried mixing in a translucent shader?

I use one already.

I wonder why the textured version didn’t work out for you. I really wish I could help more. :frowning:

I’m kinda bored with this project anyway. Just looking for some inspiration for something to do.
