Remove armature (bones) from model and assign another armature

Could someone please recommend how to remove an armature (bone setup) bound to a model that was made using MakeHuman and assign a custom already created armature from an Autodesk FBX file?

I’ve been able to import the two, but have been having difficulties removing the existing armature completely and assigning the desired one. Thanks in advance for any assistance.

Back up your File before you start this in case you delete something you did not intend to delete…

Select the Mesh that has the Armature you want to remove…
Properties Panel > Modifiers (the wrench icon) > there will be an “Armature” Modifier in there… delete by hitting the ‘X’ on the upper right hand side of the Armature…

you may also want to remove all the vertex groups that go with that Armature…

Select your Mesh > Properties Panel > Object Data(the triangle Icon) > Vertex Groups > on the Right hand side you should see a black down arrow > select it and pick “Delete all Groups”…

you may also want to “delete all the shape key groups” as well while your on this panel…

Finally delete the Armature from the file…

save your File…
Close your File…
ReOpen your File…

and everything having to do with the Armature should be gone…
