Object interaction with grass.

Hi there everybody!

I’m still a learning blender, tough task, but not given up yet.
I’ve messed with many of it’s features and done quite a few tutorials already, but the other day a colleague at work asked me if blender could do this: make a ball roll over some grass and make it all interact realistically. I guess the grass is easy, a particle hair system. But I do not know how to make any other object interact with it? If I roll a ball or let something fall on it, how can blender get them to interact? The grass leaves would individually have to bend as the object pushes against them, and offer an opposing force too. Is there another way this could be done?

Thanks. Blender is a great piece of software. This forum is great too!
