Move Geometry to UV

hi.

is anyone aware of an addon that can move the geometry to the uv position by adding a morph target?
so that the mesh gets flattened in x + y.
like this you can create details on a flat plane - skin those objects to the flattened mesh - and then morph everything back to the original shape.
