Is this real world scale? and for uv texturing

also I am still having uv texture issues. i looked online and there all cube tutorials or cylinder. I was wondering, is there away to see what edge I am on by clicking on it and seeing the selected edge in the uv editor? this way I can know what edge is witch? I mean a plank is not to hard but for future projects I think this style would help me a lot.

the blend file I was wondering if my real world was set correctly. by changing my dimensions to imperial and to 3.048 which automatically changes to .305 and I marked the separate units

Enable the ‘keep UV and mesh selection mode in sync’ button on the UV Editor header (the button to the left of the vertex section mode buton)
