What are some good tutorials for a beginner to start modeling characters?

For the human characters you can go to http://cgcookie.com/blender/ they have a lot o great stuff you can learn. They have free tutorials and they also have a citizen membership which is $18. You will be able to download the sources files and the videos with being a citizen member I have tried to do a human and it is not easy but I would go there for that.
