Merging two faces from imported svg text

Hi!
How do I “merge” the two faces in the screenshot into a single (letter) object?
I imported some text from Inkscape and want to extrude it.
I converted curves to mesh and removed faces by Limited Dissolve, but there’s one face left.
Perhaps there’s a better way of doing this?

You cannot. Faces cannot have holes in them so you have to have at least two faces in this example

I imported some text from Inkscape and want to extrude it.
You don’t need a single face to be able to extrude it. just select both faces and extrude
