Chess set rendered in Cycles. Looking for some feedback.
First things I notice: The board is pretty cool, I think I have that one at home. The metal surrounding the globe is the darkest thing in the scene, altering the tonal range. The wood underneath the board could have a lot more detail, it looks too zoomed in.
The materials look good to me but im not sure about the composition. I think you need something to separate the foreground from the background, a scene needs a focal point and its difficult to find somewhere for your eye to settle in this.
You could improve this with the lighting (highlighting the foreground more), a harsher DoF, or different object and camera placement.
