EDIT: I managed to find a build that works on my pc from this link: http://www.graphicall.org/444 give it a shot if you’re having the same issue.
I can’t seem to get Blender 2.71 to work on my computer. 2.70 worked flawlessly but I have had no luck with the test build and the official release of 2.71. Has anyone else had this issue?
here are some things I tried that didn’t work.
I uninstalled it completely and re installed it. I tried running it from the zip file. I installed MS VC Redist (Someone recommended this when I did a google search).
My specs are. I7 4770k 3.5ghz, 16gig ddr3, GTX760+GTX770
Windows 7 Ultimate 64 Bit.

Hi, this is a very new build, look to the hash c04f301.
Try official daily build from https://builder.blender.org/download/
May there was a bug in earlier builds and nobody had same hardware as you or so.
I actually just tried that one a couple of hours ago and it didn’t work, but the link I posted of an older build from June works. I think it has something to do with the way it’s compiled.
I have the same issue. Blender 2.70a runs fine, but when I try to install 2.71 it crashes on startup. I have also tried to uninstall-reinstall, and run from the zip file with no luck.
My system is an AMD A10 APU with 16 GB of DDR3/1866 ram. The graphics built into the APU is Radeon 7660D.
Hi, I had looking for many ways, forums, the solution for the crash at launching this version 2.71, actually returned to 2.70 installed for school reasons, I’ve try many things to, but no really solution… but after looking and thinking I tried the zip for both version of OS (windows 7 x86 and x64) and the zip for 32 bits actually runs fine…
After all all people that register this problem have similar hardware… 16 GB in ram, a good video and a CPU over the 2 cores…
If someone try this, installing or using the 32 bits version and share if someone else works too, will be a step for all of us…
I dunno why it occurs… Blender never gave me problems before and I prefer it over other softwares for 3D.
