Setting up 3dConnexion SpaceMouse Pro with Blender 2.69 & Ubuntu 14.04

Hi all,

I’m trying to get my 3DConnexion SpaceMouse Pro working with Blender 2.69 & Ubuntu 14.04 but am failing. I installed the 3DxWare for Linux (x86-64) driver from 3dConnexion’s website and I’m able to use the spacemouse in their xCube example. However, it is not registering at all with Blender even after closing and re-opening Blender.

Most information I’ve found about 3dConnexion, Blender, and Linux are from years ago while more recent posts suggest that Blender should recognize the mouse immediately after the driver is installed with no additional plug-ins, libraries, configuration, etc. Does anyone have any insights?

Thanks!

I had similar problems getting that binary to work in 12.04.

Instead, try the libspnav0 and spacenavd packages in the distro’s package manager.

I also use spacemouse pro (linux mint 17) but I didn’t need to install any software. It automatically worked fine with blender…But I can’t make it work in google earth :frowning:
