How to make edges smmoth?/Round?

Hey there everyone, I´m trying to create a bed and I want the edges of this mesh to be slightly round but as you can see, subdivision at lvl 1 is giving me pretty weird results. The left and right edges of the bed are getting deformed on the sides and the bed base as well. I tried just smoothing the object but that is not giving me any good looking results.

Anybody can help? : )

Press tab to enter edit mode then press Crtl+R to add in an edge loop and drag it towards the head board.

Select model, go to edit mode. Select edges (edge where you want it to be sharp), Ctrl-e > ‘mark sharp’.

Shouldn’t be using subdivision surface modifier in the first place. Beveling the edges should be enough.

Glad it helped but as was mentioned by JA12, you should be beveling edges and smoothing.
My way indeed spoke directly to your specific question but will net you a very high poly count.
