displace result

Hi

I would like to know ifit is possible to have a better result with the displace in blender ?


I’m using a 32 bits map in tiff and exr made with zbrush.

Whats wrong with it?

As you can see, the result is far from the hd sculpt.

Can we see your mesh? Topology plays a huge role in how clean displacements will turn out in Blender.


An exemple with a simple plan.


left, sculpt in blender and export of a 32 its EXR map.
Right, the same plan with displace and the 32 bits exr map.

The texture is in non color data.
The result is really bad.

With zbrush map it’s better.


but far to be perfect.

you have some wierd shading on the edges of your creases. remember 50% grey is 0 displacement black is -displacement and white is +displacemnt so where its showing black or white at the edges of your crease you are getting those awkward lifts and indents around your strokes. try adjusting the bake settings to minimise the edges, or be prepared to take your baked image into photoshop and do some painting with a 50% grey soft brush to fix them

I shouldnt’ have to tweak my map.

I know. but there it is. in need of tweaking.
