Rhythm & Hues Studios' Voodoo - Rigging Demos

I miss this program. Hopefully it will inspire some of you

I was all ready to tell you to do a forum search for the existing Voodoo threads, but these videos are new to me. Very cool stuff.

Way cool. Davida could you give a quick rundown of the workflow and elements of the tool in a post?. Like what he used in general in order of appearance? I am making some assumptions on what is being done.

Thanks,
JT

Maaaan it would be awesome if they release this publicly. I sincerely hope they do so that I dont have to move to maya from softimage and move to this instead.

fxguide put up a pretty long article about Voodoo yesterday.

At the end of which they start to answer the questions about if it will be made publicly available:

“Licensing is the direction we are definitely interested in and pursuing” --Voodoo lead Sherie Bradfute

I wonder what we’ll be hearing at Siggraph? :eyebrowlift:

Wow that Delta Mushing post process for rigs. Soooo cool.

Yeah, that deformer is pretty awesome.

Now as a modifier in 3DS Max:

If anyone is interested in implementing this in Blender (I would if I had the coding skills), you can get the paper here:

http://dl.acm.org/citation.cfm?id=2614144

And there’s a video explaining the implementation here:

Edit: And this guy made an implementation for Maya but points to where he found a bunch of information about the math involved here:

Yep that the same theory behind it. Kind of a process though. I’d like to see a fully coded C++ version in Blender though.

That method doesn’t work for any mesh with overhanging geo, as we don’t have vector displacement baking in Blender yet. I bought the paper the other day, might take a stab at it when I’m done with my other overdue animation project haha.
