Nice renders i like it but i think you need more light on the tank that would make it even more good

ive only just learnt about cycles render haha, this is my second render using it, how would you recommend me doing this?

More like mini Tiger II :3 Sweet modeling.

love the tank, but not the textures. I think the bump you used is a little too small (tight?). Also some of the edges seem a little soft.

Your modeling looks great, killa2471! A little more flattering light would really do it justice, currently your final renders are a little contrasty with very dark shadows, and in the first image a lot of the shape of the tank is lost in the background.

You might want to try using an HDR image to light your scene, it’s a quick and simple way to get a realistic look. You can find a bunch of different maps (free to download!) here: http://hdrmaps.com/freebies

To learn how to setup the HDR map in Cycles, here’s an old but still relevant tutorial from Blender Sushi: http://blendersushi.blogspot.com/2011/11/cycles-setting-image-based-lighting-ibl.html

Just remember to click “Multiple Importance Sample” in the World settings box (I usually set it to 1024, default is 256 I believe) to get less noisy results!

thanks, ill watch that, maybe set up an actual scene, I want to get into a university focusing my efforts on pure modelling rather than lighting and what not, I on just recently downloaded crazy bump, and figured out a few more things.

details are correct but overall the tank has been squeezed along the y axis. try looking at some orthos of the king tiger to get an idea of what is wrong here.

would just like to say rendering takes forever on my pc, ive subdivided by 3 for most things, added a array ground with proper textures, added a hdri and i changed the scale with complete new textures, should take forever to render

Nice model, but the normals texture does not work for this model, imo.

it doesn’t have any normals >.< but this render does i think it looks better

Well for the modeling you hit that out of the park.

Amazing modelling, could you make a tutorial of modelling the hull and few other parts? That would be great! Good job on this one.

your main problem is still the out of proportion nature of the length to the width and height.

in terms of a tutorial, I don’t think I’m anywhere near the point of that, but I have picked up a few umm techniques that do help allot, but mostly manually modelling is what I do, in the Query about the scale along the “Y” axis with nearly everything I create I tend to stray away from generic’s i think my scaling is almost spot on, its the additives that make it look out, also i didn’t use the tiger 2 tread.

if you would like the model I can upload it, its really worth nothing to me, I have my pictures I need.

I’d love to see the model! Could you maybe share some tips? Thanks.

here’s the .blend file with the textures packed (google images)
