Here is my Sea Monster Creation Project for the BGuru Competition.
[NOTE: This is Only the Creation of the Sea Monster NOT My BGuru Competition Main Project, This is Just a Part of It]
I moved the creation to here instead of in My the Sketchbook.
Looks great. I love the fact that you can see some of the skull’s bone structure in the face. Nicely done. Can’t wait to see it with some sick SSS shaders.
Well, I take my time, I plan ahead for rigging, I need edges on sertain locations.
I don’t want to end up with crappy topology…
This model just has lots of curves I need to get out properly without using to many faces.
I have done retopology in about as little as an hour of a human model, but this one, even if you manage to retopo this model in 2 hours, it wouldn’t look professional. (no offence) :o
Time-wise, maybe from you your point of view, it’s unpractical, but I don’t mind spending an extra hour or 2 getting just that better quality out of it.
This is fine…Im doing a dinosaur now and this is a realy good example of topology? My question is How do you start good, because when I do the sane thing I start with a sphere or whatever, and Im sure you don’t, because the lines look so good. Knowledge is power. How did you learn to start this way?
I start with 1 vertex (I main start at the jaw or torso, depends). Then I basically start drawing out the bends and curves and then continue on from there.
I’ll post my first retopology session of this model so you can see how I work. :eyebrowlift:
Nice work thus far! But dude, I heard people describing retopo as “relaxing” and thought they were crazy, but after I tried it… nice video btw, (the last one), but made me remember that on the last sculpt I did I completely forgot about shrinkwrap until I was done with the modeling- but when I added it it was like: BOOM!
