How do you manage your blend files? Version files? Save disk space?
Do you simply open “tree_01.blend”, start hitting the the “+” after a while and save?
Do you use git, SVN?
Do you think there could be a better way?

Everything I do with Blender is stored in the cloud. Usually Microsoft OneDrive. Since I have Windows 8.1 it’s already built-in. If I store a blend file or a rendered image in the OneDrive folder, it will be stored locally, and later upload to Microsoft’s servers. This is good for say, keeping progress on a render when I’m not home. If I set the output folder for an animation render to OneDrive, then I can check how the animation is doing. If more images keep coming in every few minutes, I can see them. If the rendering finishes before I can get home, I can download the images and edit them into an animation remotely.
It’s not about saving disk space per se, I have plenty of that. It’s mostly for the convenience of a free offsite backup, and also being able to recall my images whenever and wherever I want.
