Problem With Ambient Light Rendering

I am having problems getting this piece to render properly in the scene I am doing. I use Ambient Occlusion Factor 1, Distance 10 (the default) for my light source as I am not too good at manipulating light samples. The problem is that when it renders, the sink appears as a giant white blob with no details. How do I fix this?

I downloaded your file.

I don’t like the “world” ambient occlusion. Use the cycles ambient occlusion shader. I think the world one is specific to size and your model is huge. I just went to edit mode, selected all the polys and assigned them to a newly created cycles ambient occlusion shader. Problem solved.
