Does scaling a model decrease the mesh quality?

I’m starting to learn character and environment modelling. To make things more simple, I was considering scaling down the finished character models so I can save a lot of space with a smaller-sized environment, for scenes with big open areas.
However, I’m not sure if decreasing the model size like this could possibly reduce its quality. Could it? And could this also be posible for increasing the size of a small model?

Thanks.

no you should see no difference in quality through scaling models down.

Alright thanks. I’ll assume the same be said for increasing the size of a model too.

depends on how much you are scaling… you could run into precision issues… im talking scaling by more / less then 10000 though.

It really is about the texture quality. If you scale any model with image based textures up and do not increase image resolution you will see pixelization in the areas that use image textures. But if you use procedural textures you can scale all you want without experiencing pixelization.
