The Meshers Project a volunteer blender content library

Hey guys,
I just had the coolest idea…I call it the Meshers project. Basically what it is: anyone can post meshes they create on this forum. Prefix your post with “Meshers” to make searching easier. Then other users download your mesh, upgrade it or modify it how they want, and then post it in a reply to your original post. If you want to become a Mesher…just pick a job you want to do, for example: sculptor, retopologist, modeler, UV unwrapper/mapper, texture specialist, character rigger…anything you can think of that would be an asset to this kind of project. Then add to the end of your signature:
I am a Mesher Project member. (List the jobs you perform here)
Then add a link to this post for anyone who wants to learn about the Meshers Project.

I will post my first one…it will be a smith & Wesson m&p .45 base mesh. I will also be changing my own signature after this post…I would have done it before but I didn’t think of it. So to any potential Meshers…Welcome!

There is already the possibility to find basemeshes and Models on Pages like Blendswap, OpenGameArt, aso.
You have a nice idea, but i don’t think it could be successfully organized on a Forum.

Oh really? I didn’t know they already had websites like that…I’m going to still post my base meshes now and then and I will have to check out blendswap. Thanks for your input Cerfribar

Well I checked out blendswap And its an OK website and all but it misses the fundamental point. Correct me if I’m wrong but it seems to be meshes, rigs, props etc. Created by a single user and made available for other users to use…however my idea was that you could have teams of people each doing jobs they like and or are good at to create blender content. And every mesh could have multiple versions at a range of completion. For example, you could download the sculpted version if it’s available, or the retopo version, the rigged version etc. You do have a point that it may not be very successful on a forum, I wonder if anyone would be interested in building a website like that. I don’t have any website building knowledge but I wouldn’t mind learning
