uv distortion bug ?

hello,im havng some very strange issues with the blender uvs with a model done completely in blender.

i checked for hidden verts, faces, doubles, the usual troubblemakers. and its clean, the seams are also clean, with sharp edges and smoothing applied. i get this:

my rifle turns into a banano on the uv. ive been getting even other distortions, how is this even possible ?

What were your unwrap settings ?
Which UV mapping option ? Angle based or conformal as the unwrap method?

conformal turns out to be better, but it nearly eliminates all of it when disabling fill holes.

did you find any leads? i still get bending on faces that should be perfectly straighth.

i played around with the island margin reactivated the hole fill, and now it actually looks even better.

is this random ? the margin is actually even smaller now…

In your first screenshot the gun has 6 indentations and the second one doesn’t have seams the same way as others have so it won’t unwrap nicely.
