High resolution (256+) smoke is very faint in viewport

Hi, long time blender user here. Is there a way to alter how the viewport displays the volumetric smoke effects? Right now, I’ve got a pretty high-resolution simulation, but it’s just BARELY visible in the viewport, but shows up just fine in the render. I’ve had this problem for quite some time, and it’s getting very frustrating, as I have no way of seeing what the sim looks like in any way that bears even a vague resemblance to the final output.
