Large scale explosion - how?

Saw this tutorial for FumeFX on 3DTotal:

http://www.3dtotal.com/index_tutorial_detailed.php?id=1859#.U06rovlkRg0

and began wondering how can it be recreated in Blender (same kind of structure and look).

Any thoughts ? Thanks.

Try the following settings on Domains material:
Scattering = 2
Density Scale = 50
DISABLE LIGHT CACHE (warning: higher rendertime)
Set Step Calculation Step Size = 0.05

This will basicly give a better look.
Hope it helps :wink:

thanks, but the issue is that explosion fire turns to smoke quickly, and as you can see in that FumeFX tutorial, the clouds of smoke still have fire inside of them even at the highest point. Is it something can be done with Blender smoke?

Set the TIME of the DOMAIN lower, and put the TEMP.DIFF. higher :wink:
