After a few days trying to make, what is probably a simple piece of modelling, I can’t seem to get the result I want, I am trying to make the centre screen bit of the TV below (the selected section) but I can’t get the right result, all the smooths just seem to mess the mesh up
well i guess you could add a subsurf to the area mentioned. Then fix all the edges that you want to be hard.
I would also add 2 loops to this thing. horizontally and vertically. Then select the inner part and with Shift + Alt + c (I think, or was it s) you make this inner part round. (If the hotkey was wrong just press spacebar and search for to sphere)
You could try modeling the outer edge and the inner edge separately, it should be easy, but make sure that you have the same number of edges/vertices along the edgeloops on both. Then connect the two using the ‘bridge edge loop’ tool.
