Physical ram increases while GPU rendering

I am rendering a cycles animation. It is only using about 512 mb of ram from 2 gb gpu. I have 20 gb of physical ram. After about an hour of rendering frames, my physical ram, for some reason, gets maxed out. Not sure why gpu rendering an animation would slowly cause my physical ram to increase. Any one have this happen? I am using 2.68…It is a project that was started with that version awhile ago.

Are you rendering to an image sequence, or an actual video file?

are you also rendering via commandline or through the gui.

It is an image sequence rendering with Blender open through the GUI.

Sounds like a memory leak somewhere in the render process. I’ll ping Thomas or Brecht and point them to this thread.
