Rope making!

Hi Guys & Girls
This is what i want to do…

Make a rope the retains its integrity when it is made into cloth. i.e. I have made a cylinder (8 x 128) stretched to 10m. Pinned either end and run Alt+A to make it naturally drop. ok so far BUT… the ‘rope’ flattens out against itself, not like a real rope. Is there a way of making the ‘inside’ of the rope solid, so when it hangs down it does not flatten.

Thanks for your replies & have a great day

Hi Marco
Looks like a great way to make rope. Nice detail too. But i am looking for something more simple for Second Life. I will try the tut and see if i can adapt it.
Thanks for replying

I’d use a soft-body curve for the dynamics, and then a curve modifier to fit the rope mesh to the curve.

Best wishes,
Matthew
