Alternative to Word

I use OpenOffice, which is probably a sister to Libre if not more-or-less the same thing. OpenOffice has the backing of Oracle so it’s pretty much equivalent to Word for almost​ everything you might need to do with a document.

Ugh. (Without, please, attempting to hijack the thread in this juicy direction …) “I generally hate ‘forks.’” Except when eating dinner. I just want a powerful word-processor and spreadsheet that works, and I’ve got one right now, and Oracle is a name that I know.

I mean, a program that’s just backed by some Foundation couldn’t possibly be any good, now could it?

I am using Libreoffice at work, it has its quirks but I am happy with it.
