How do you use Blender to edit videos?

I finished the first 2 chapters of my cg movie. I wan’t to arrange the scenes together, change the length of each clip and add some bg music and additional bells and whistles to them which you can do on a multitrack video editor. I rendered all scenes in AVI format.

Someone told me that there must be a way to edit videos in blender. So I won’t need a video editing software if that is true.

How do you do it? Is there an article or tutorial about it?

Use the sequencer

Quite frankly, uhhh, I don’t. I’m most familiar with Final Cut Pro (it’s not even the current version, but it runs great), and that’s what I use for video editing. Blender, therefore, is used to produce “footage.” Obviously, I’m not saying that Blender alone couldn’t do a great job, but you simply get into a certain groove of feeling productive doing certain things in certain ways, with tools that sort of fit like an old glove. (i.e. Keeps your hands warm and you know how to avoid the occasional holes. )
