Animation Test Body Mechanics

Simple Body Jump done in Blender
with the fantastic Goon Rig from Blendswap

Modeled and Rigged by Sean Burgoon

Imported and Rigged to Blender by Racche

Way back in 2009 I did the Jason Ryan tutorials
and now I’m trying to do some animation practice.
More to follow… with the awesome Flex Rig from CGcookie.

Critics welcome.

Update
Had a double frame on the end of the cycle.
Also I added a frame-counter
freen noticed it… my bad.
Also uploaded one cycle only without looping.

Doing this as a cycle actually makes this unnatural and hard to critique.
It’s a nice test, but I would prefer to see a jump and a landing, without the loop. (also a frame counter helps people to critique your work)

The main issue I see is on the landing, where he appears to pause midway. (Maybe it’s the loop point?)

Thanks for the feedback. In fact the loop point is in the landing.
I’ll add a counter and look into the issues.

Many, many thanks for helping me with this.

perhaps jump, land, pause and repeat?

…seems like the feet could stick to the ground longer…that often helps with jumps.

Hard to say much with the current loop.

I do like your setup and testing.

great bounce and feel of weight shifting…

could the hands raise sooner, leading the jump more?

Thanks for the feedback James_Z.
I’ll work on that and post an update as soon as possible.
