File Compression not working well.

I’m just learning Blender but am an experienced computer user. This is quite a learning curve.

Anyhow, there seems to be something wrong with the file compression. I turned compression on, and saved an untitled blender file. That seemed to work.

But when I saved other existing files , even after making sure compression was checked, they do NOT compress at all.

What’s the issue?

Running Blender 2.7, Windows 7 X64.

I realize this was a very hard question, but not even one response?

Maybe I should have offered Justin Beiber concert tickets as a prize.

Blender is a serious program used by serious people.

I’m seriously confounded that no one is responding to a serious inquiry.
