On Mars with the Blender Game Engine

Hi,
We are the Italian chapter of the Mars Society (IMS).
IMS is spearheading the European MaRs Analog Station for Advanced Technologies Integration project (ERAS http://www.erasproject.org). The project aims to address the major issues that could jeopardize a crewed mission to Mars and are not adequately being addressed at existing terrestrial Mars analogs.

We are currently working on an immersive virtual reality simulation of the ERAS Station. For this virtualization we are planning to use the Blender game engine. The major advantage of such virtualization is that it will be possible to undertake training sessions with a crew that can interact with its future environment before the actual station is built.

We have been accepted this year as an official Google Summer of Code 2014 (GSoC) mentor organization.

GSoC is a global program that offers students stipends to write code for open source projects.
If you are a student and interested in working in the project we propose:

please come talk to us on the [email protected] mailing list.

Until March 21st students can apply from the GSOC http://www.google-melange.com/gsoc/homepage/google/gsoc2014 home page

Thanks

I will help, Jackii’s physics rig does not need much work, to be able to physically manipulate a dynamic environment,

I am however not a student, but I have been working on in game assembly of components and physical environment interaction.

I can code logic and python, but have yet to tackle C++
