How do I set a constraint that would position an object in a certain space?

Hi there,

I’m not blender pro, however I’ve been using this software for a couple of months.
I’m struggling with a kitchen model ;/

I’ve created cabinets but they are difficult to adjust. Whenever I want to make some changes, I need to touch every cabinet object.

Here is what behaviour I want to achieve.

Create one cabinet, with a door and a handle.
These could be 3 objects(parent, 2 children).

Now, I want to ensure that whenever I scale parent object, children are scaled as well.
I achieved this, but children changed their position. Door has shifted, which is not what I need.
Same with a handle.

I think that some constraints would do the job.
For example - make sure some verticles must be in the same position.

How do I do that?

Thanks!
Peter

Use a copy scale and a copy location with keep offset. howabout that?
Im not sure about keep some verts in the same place. maybe you need shape keys.

Use an empty. Build your cabinet, door and handle, and position them how you like. Then select a corner of the cabinet (everything will scale from this corner) and snap the cursor to that corner vertex. Add an empty (it will be positioned at the cabinet corner.) Then parent all three parts to the empty.

Now, when you scale the empty, the pieces will all scale along with it, and will keep their positions relative to each other.

Empties are cool. Welcome to BlenderArtists
