wow. Very nice. I can’t see how you could make this any better. I wish blender allowed you to build a library of objects for these kinds of projects. Did you do these to exact scale?

lol, really nice - I’ve got one of those

Thanks:) I had to improvise on some if the special parts, like the two big side objects on the bucket. The rest of the model should be in the exact same scale as the original model.

now theres a compliment - I was just looking at it again and my wife pottered over and said - “I don’t get it, what’s the point - is it a photo?” - I then went on to say its a render and she was very impressed.

Very well done, Heinzelnisse! I just saw your model on Blend Swap before I came here. When you’re creating a model like this, do you use grid snapping to help you with exact object placement?

Thanks:) James Candy: The grid snapping tool is amazing on these kind of models, I used it all the time^^ Aligning things manually takes ages:p

really nice and realistic looking render

This is so good! Especially with the rig, I’m really impressed.

Outstanding job on this… one of the better lego renders I have seen.

Thank you all for the comments:3

Would have been amazing if somebody would take the time to make a full Lego library with that “Object Assembler” addon^^

Very nice lighting! Nice, soft colors.

Thanks Akirahz:)

Looks great! I’m curious which builder you used?

this is very cool. i want to play with it

Wow, this looks so good. It looks so realistic!

Nice model! I like the lightning and the level of glossiness on the sand color shader!

There is already a standard 3D library for Lego parts which can be found here:
http://www.ldraw.org/
And you can use MLCAD to build the model using them. MLCAD is not a particularly good program(especially when you’re used to Blenders UI), but it works.

There is an import add-on for Blender somewhere that can import both models and individual Lego parts from the ldraw library. I had some issues with it, but I can’t remember if I was because it just couldn’t find all parts or if it only worked with Blender 2.4x. However did I manage to remove the missing parts from the model or import the model via 2.49b into Blender 2.68 and create this animation:

This is really cool. I think I can’t tell the difference between this render and a picture of an actual yellow bulldozer lego model (in reality). Nice work!
