I’ve got a cliche for you. A lot of chase scenes have been shot in San Francisco and most of them have a shot where the car gets airborne as it goes over the hills. Here are a couple of stills…
Brilliant work Duncang6! Loving the whole minimalist/geometric/low-poly styles that have been big at the moment and yours are no execption! Just wondering was this rendered in blender cycles or an external renderer? (I only ask as I have been struggling to create anything looking this nice in cycles!)
Thanks
Scozzi- thanks, the cars are actually disappearing under the edge! I tried a few things when getting the cars to disappear at the edge, but the easiest thing was just placing a separate ground layer on top of the film in the video editor.
I do think it looks a bit odd that they go off screen like that… what about adding in something to hide those transitions… like overpasses or something?
Not very many poeple like the low poly pictures and animations, but I think that they are cool. It shows that a CGI animation doesn’t need to have amazing effects.
I would love to see these pictures turned into an animation!
Besides the overall cuteness of the concept, it’s the combination of little things in the scenes which make it so good. The pipes sticking out of the ground is a really thoughtful, funny touch. The animation is cartoonish, but because of the nature of the design elements, it’s perfectly good–in fact, it sends it over the top.
I enjoyed this very much and it put a much-needed smile on my face this morning. Thanks! Have 5*'s. =D
Thanks for the comments guys-I thought this thread had fallen back a few pages, so I was quite surprised to see it on the top banner! Once again, thank you for the support and the very warm reception
These look just absolutely adorable. I can’t draw or model cars to save my life but i just love those little cop cars!
And i’m from Arizona so i especially like that last one
Using a triangulated mesh with a gradient for a sky is absolutely genius. i love how you used that
