jack cable

Hy, I’m trying to create a jack cable.
I’m really looking for the photorealistic look, but in my opinion I haven’t really got that yet.
Please any comments or critique are appreciated.
(Note: ignore the weird black spots on the metal input)

I’ve made a few changes. Not much, but just some details.
I’m struggeling with the displacement. The black dots on the metal and on the floor material are texteres which should be used as displacement in cycles. I don’t understand why they appear black… Any suggestions:

And this is my node setup (for the floor material):

The last math node you used as multiply creates a single value. So you should delete it and instead use a color mix node and type multiply etc. Basicly you should use an color output to displacement input.

Ok thanks for the tip :stuck_out_tongue:
This is an update. The flor isn’t really what I was aiming at, but it looks ok.
Let me know if you got any tips for improvement.

(1000 samples, rendertime: a very long time)

I like the floor, it adds a bit of background “flavor” but can go almost unnoticed, which is what I would be shooting for. My only though is that your materials aren’t just right. The rubber needs to be more rubbery, I would try to add a more spec to it and turn up the roughness. It looks good but its just not perfect yet and its hard to put my finger on why…

I think @Captain was spot on. The rubber isn’t ‘shiny’ enough, more specularity will help.
