Is Copy, the new Dropbox? (possible 10TB+ for free)

Hey everyone, so i signed up to Copy today, a new cloud service, and wanted to share it with you guys.
I signed up through a referral and got 20GB right away. -> Dropbox gives you what, like 2GB?

So the cool things…The app got revision history, bandwidth control and a nice web interface too. The other cool thing that they are pushing is the file ownership, so when you share the file in dropbox both of the people get the space reduced, but with Copy, a file that is shared with you doesn’t reduce your quota. So yeah check it out if you need cloudspace/backup/filesharing. https://copy.com?r=0e0wFQ and tell what you think i guess  Here is their info page: https://www.copy.com/about/prOh and yeah compatible with Windows, Linux, Mac, Android and iOS.

So yeah very cool alternative to dropbox, here is a referral link for anyone to start with 20GB if you like: https://copy.com?r=0e0wFQ both you and me get 5gb through the referral (you should start out with 20gb right away: 15GB right off the bat + my 5gb), so if you got enough referrals you can get like 10TB at some point (http://instagram.com/p/ZgSHgWI_zt from @ChrisPirillo if anyone follows him).

Note: Just found out that the 5GB both ways is a “limited offer” that they are doing for their launch party.

Looks great
Your referral link is dead I think, could just be me, but https://www.copy.com/?r=0e0wFQ worked here.

Thanks mate, I missed a “:” in the https part somehow when making the link… fixed now! Hope it is of benefit you you

Also if i remember correctly you’ll need to verify your e-mail with them, and get the app for your system so you can actually drop your files in. (Just like the dropbox client)

It is the new drop box. Use this link for ALL THE GIGABYTES!
ALL OF THEM!

Thanks DDD, just signed up

roflcopter: posting your own referral in someone else’s thread is not very polite

Np guys, enjoy the space, and spread the word to get more space for both you and others

Thanks Morio, roflcopter was not very polite indeed, but C’est la vie unfortunately.

I signed up on your referral, DDD

Signed up via DDD’s referral link as well, he should have like 50gb by now xD

It’s a shame that I didn’t see this earlier though, I just bought 100gb of space + unlimited backups on my dropbox hardly a week ago :stuck_out_tongue:

You guys are awesome, I love the blender community. Thanks guys.

@NinthJake yeah i am slowly reaching 100gb, 60% there ;), if i do next milestone would be 200gb. I would probably literally fall out of my chair if i get a TB.

I mentioned Chris Perillo earlier, who i got the referral from, I believe he had a TB in like 5 hrs or something like that, probably like 15TB now. It all depends on how you are connected.

For those of you who missed my thread earlier, here is a referral link for anyone to start with 20GB of space in “Copy” cloud storage service if you like: https://copy.com?r=0e0wFQ

the thing with dropbox is not the capacity, i already got a free sweeping 27gb with ms account, but i still use the dropbox much much more, it’s the ease of use, the app tools, the way it handles files, exceptionally good for slow internet like mine
>

Oh i am not saying drop box is bad, i still use it (along with copy), i am just pointing out that copy exists and that the service rivals, if not exceeds that of dropbox.

Seems like a good idea - I’ll sign up now. I got about a few gigs that I need to back-up just case my hard drive crashes with all it’s photos and videos and all.

Dropbox has 300MB maximum upload size which sucks for me, while Copy is unlimited. Good news!

Sorry that I did not know it was impolite and really I still would like some extra storage as well.

Well is been almost a year since the last post.

I want to thank everyone who used my copy referral link (https://copy.com/?r=0e0wFQ), hope you are happy with your starting 20GB (and were able to get more from refering you friends :p)!

Happy blending everyone, no exuses, you have at least 20gb to store those .blends and those awesome 8k textures and all that simulation cache data, and of course the hundreds of rendered frames that is now that awesome 4k movie on youtube! Ok, well at least you are blending and learning so that one day…

Chrome says the .exe app is malicious and that it has blocked it… Any ideas why?

Been using Copy mainly for my web games since the Ubuntu One service is shutting down, haven’t had any problems with it. The ability to use direct links is a must for me when it comes to a cloud service.

In order to use direct links with Copy just copy the link provided when enabling public sharing and append the filename to the end.

I have the Copy app running on Ubuntu with no problems, maybe Google is trying to keep Copy from competing with the Google Drive service. I read an article where Google had done something similar in preventing the Windows Phone OS from accessing Google Maps in a bid to leverage their assets against Microsoft in the mobile OS wars.

If you want a alternative then try CloudBacko cloud backup. It is the fastest, secure and more reasonable from other online IT backup solutions. It supports majorly Windows, Mac, Linux ,etc. You can try this software. Thanks
