The first one is for 64bit the second 32bit. I am not running this in Ubuntu though, just providing the links to you.

my driver is up to date, but cursor hangs in view port render, any Ubuntu user have that problem?

I’m not using the same card as you, in fact a GTX 260. But I can say that I have had a lot (LOT!) of issues with Ubuntu 12.04 & Nvidia drivers recently. Hanging, freezing, lock ups &c. Really, really bad in comparison to older versions of Ubuntu.

I can’t offer a fix I’m afraid, I can only suggest that you check your card isn’t overheating, and that the performance mode in the Nvidia control panel is set to maximum.

whenever i try to install .run file i go the following error

Nouveau Kernel driver is currently in use …

Anyone help me to install the .run file?

I use these commands to install latest Nvidia drivers in 12.04, never had troubles.

sudo apt-add-repository ppa:ubuntu-x-swat/x-updates
sudo apt-get update
sudo apt-get install nvidia-current nvidia-settings

i installed Ubuntu 12.10, updated the driver using that PPA, but unity panel and windows are not showing. so re installed Ubuntu 12.10.

Hi, you can´t install nvidia driver with .run during xserver is running,
you have to go to terminal with “Alt+F1” login and switch to runlevel 3 with “init 3”.
This shut down xserver.
Then run “sudo sh driverxyz.run”
During installation the driver try to disable Nouveau driver.
May it is better to try opensuse, there are up to date drivers for Nvidia easy to install.
But may I am a little prejudiced as a longterm suse user. :eyebrowlift:
Cheers, mib.

Thats the problem, how to disable Nouveau driver during the install.

Hm, it is automatic, if the installation is ready the setup ask you to disable Nouveau.
May it is different with ubuntu. You need also linux kernel sources to build the nvidia driver modul.
There are infos in the readme file also about the Nouveau problem.

i tried this http://de.download.nvidia.com/XFree86/Linux-x86_64/304.60/README/commonproblems.html#nouveau after that my screen resolution changed and texts are looks bad. and CTRL + ALT F1 to F6 screen goes black, unable to see the window.

You have to install the driver first then disable nouveau .
May a ubuntu user can help better here, we have two different systems, sorry.

Cheers, mib.

I tested the last 11.xx version of Ubuntu earlier this year with the nVidia GTX 560 Ti and didn’t have any of the problems you’re talking about. After installation, there was an icon on the desktop, I clicked it, and the driver got installed, all magic-like and easy.

I won’ t go into all the other reasons I switched back to Windows, but this wasn’t one of them.

i installed driver successfully but blender not start.

Error in terminal when i try to open blender
