Arc of Light in Space

Hello,
Does anyone know of a tutorial or have an idea of how to get the effect of an arc of light in space? I’m already trying a transparent material, but also need the glow and I’m not quite sure how to get that. I’ve attached a jpeg as a example of what I’m trying to achieve.
Thanks,

In BI, you can just use highly subdivided lines and set them to use a halo material, be sure to set the transparency to a high values as that is needed to get the soft glow.

In Cycles, there are no halos so it can be a little trickier, in that case I would probably use tubes and mix an emission shader with a transparent shader with the help of the blend weight node (using the ‘facing’ output to fade out the emission as the normals become more perpendicular to the camera)

There are several good tutorials out there about making light streaks. This is BlenderDiplom’s tutorial

This is one thing that I would strongly recommend using the compositor for rather than trying to create a material to look like that.
