Raiponce's tower

First of all, Iwant to introduce myself :
I’m from Belgium.
I’m 41 years old, I’m married and Ihave 3 children.
I work as nurse in Radiology in a hospital.
I’m sorry if my syntax and my vocabulary are not very good, it’s a long time ago since I write so much in English (French is my first language)

3D is a great hobby for me;)
My first contact with a 3D software was due to an excellent tutorial from David Revoy (many thanks to him) on the interface of Blender 2.42.
At this time I was very interested by video games and I rapidly work with 3dsmax. I also worked with XSI. I learned a lot from these 2 softwares.
Wen Blender 2.5 appears, I decided to go back to legality and I’m very happy of my choice.

No let’s talk about my project:
I bought the Masterclass vol 6 of computer arts (in french) and I began the tutorials.
The second one is on the Raiponce’s tower. But I want to improve this exercise and to be
more proach from the model of the film.

One of the most difficult chalenge for me was to apply the tiles on the roof. I use particules for it and it was the first time for me …
The modelisation is pratically finished.

Comments are welcome;)

Looks pretty good but not a fan to the color to the roof.

Hey there babinski!

I have to agree with XeroShadow, the color on the roof looks a bit weird, maybe because the rest is all with “ceramic” texture.
But the shape and modeling is spot on! Just a matter of working the textures and you are good to go
Great job

Orry, I forgot to mention that the colors of the tiles are just to help me to see the repartition of my different tiles (5 in one group).

Here is a global view of the tower and a little close up.

No I’m going to finish the mod.
Textures will coming next…

The colors are not the definitiv one. I’m using them to see the randomization of my diffrent tiles.

for tiles in cycles you can have random patterns using the random output for info node

it can be done in cycles only

beginning to look good

happy 2.6

Thanks for the tip;)
I will try it with the roof of the little windows in the main roof.

Finished the roof and all his parts.

No, 2 more little things to mod on the main stage and after Unwrap and texture…

All the mod of the tower is donne.

The colors of the roof are not the final ones!!

Next step, creating the environment (ground, river and hills), adding vegetation.

I don’t know how my ligthing will be. If you have suggestions for it;)

Here is the result I 'd like to have. But the environment will have a good level of details because I want to make “close-up” renders.

The reference picture I use is a print screen from the movie (Raiponce Walt Disney Studios) took with Power DVD10.

No, Let’s work…

Looks nice! I love that movie. By the way, it’s spelled “Rapunzel” (I was a little confused when I saw the title.) Also, the color of the roof is too saturated and varied. There weren’t any hot pink tiles in the movie. So, work on that, and if you can get the textures looking good this will be awesome, because the modeling is great!

did you read any of the thread? the guy’s from belgium and the roof is a placeholder material
