Bologna Train Station [ex-BlenderGuru Entry]

Hi everybody!
I’ve spent some time to put together a scene for the last BG Photorealistic contest but, in the last few days, I realized that i was too busy to complete it, so i’m starting this WIP of the “Bologna Train Station”

Latest update ( or go to the last post for more views and infos!):

For who’s interested, here is a street view of the train station: http://goo.gl/maps/FLAj

Sta venendo uno spettacolo, non vedo l’ora di vederlo finito!

great work… :eyebrowlift: …how may ram have you got?

Thanks! Really appreciate!

The stats, rendering with Cycles GPU tells that:
Mem:467.82M (152.38M,peak 1069.60M)

Soon my GPU won’t work anymore… yayyyyyyyyyyy

We have a clock!
(and some more electricity wires, for eagle eyed :stuck_out_tongue: )

Hello everybody!

Here there are some changes of my Bologna Train Station model:

  • Rail Station buildings (on the left) completed!
  • Added a fence to the right
  • more wires, poles and subtle details :spin:

And a rendering without the foreground objects, with some slight changes

cheers!

Very nice! I think this will turn out great.

maybe a pain to texture, but great modelling  in some cases tough, isn’t that a bit much detail for the placement of the camera?

Thanks! I hope that…

Thank you very much, the modeling is taking me a little bit too long and this will be a pain in texture for sure
but I’m ready for the worst! (the instances, however, will help me in the texturing i hope)
The POV of the scene is a classic view from the bridge above the station, maybe I’m detailing it too much but I hope to get a more realistic and casual effect

Sparazza

Textures!

At first I choose a standard UV Mapped approach for the railing:

Then a second (and better IMHO) UV + Vertex color approach appeared:

In the second pictures are also textured rails, poles, some near transformers, some signal and the rail end.

Any suggestion for the done and/or the upcoming texturing? :spin:

Thread re-opened at OP request.

I know it’s been a long time, but I started back to model this scene that I had set aside for lack of time!:o

Changes on the surrounding buildings and news of platform’s textures:

And the big one!
