This looks very nice, I’ll buy it close to release time though. I couldn’t pay now and wait all that time, I’d go crazy heh.

I bought mine! Can’t wait deevad! Character work before getting to the modeling stage is so important, and so often overlooked.

Waiting impatiently for the final release.

It looks really cool, I have already pre-ordered mine.

Did mine yesterday.
This was a awesome idea.
Highly impressed first time I saw the time-lapse video of David Revoy working in Alchemy.

Keep it coming foundation.

Looks REALLY cool, but I think I’ll have to skip this one. In the description it says it assumes familiarity with fundamental digital painting techniques (paraphrasing), which I have absolutely none. For me, it would be like watching Les Claypool on the bass. Awesome, amazing, and enjoyable, but I wouldn’t learn squat, lol.

I think a video course on the fundamentals of digital painting/sketching with a bias towards concept art/texturing, etc. for a 3D project would be really cool. Maybe on color theory (is that the right term?) and blend modes, etc. as well. The few I’ve found of this variety are always for Photoshop, which being a noob at raster art (or any art for that matter), I have difficulty applying to GIMP.

You should maybe consider getting it anyway! I know when I bought creature factory, I was a complete 3d novice and blender novice. I learned so much from that DVD I can not even say! Before buying that DVD I had made some nice renders of a 3d cube, after I could confidently make an entire creature. Don’t under-estimate what you can learn by watching the masters.

I’m a complete 2D novice still - especially when it comes to concept art - I hope this dvd sheds some light for me.

I agree with the poster above.

You know when you are learning stuff like this it’s better to aim a little higher than ‘beginner’ or ‘introduction’ series as they offer very little in terms of skill building.

I guarantee you will learn a hundred times more information, and useful information at that from a DVD like this.

It says about “drawing from imagination” you are to negative on yourself , just search on scribd.com for Andrew Loomis - Fun with a pencil (for start then go other books by him …Andrew Loomis search on same site ) and a fundamental perspective book and easy Norling -Perspective made easy.Go and sketch from them.

Did not say about “digital painting fundamentals” that DVD teach you the painting process but you must know the things i listed up.

Have a nice go to drawing freelance.

You can always learn something from watching someone.

Only thing I am interested in is the making of professional quality character model sheets.

Anyway, I am off to buy it right now. Buy Buy:p

Just bought one. Love supporting Blender!!

(Hopes my copy is autographed by Ton… LOLz)

I sooo bought this DVD. I´m mainly a photoshop user, but it feels great to support the open source community. Can hardly wait for it to get released…
When is that gonna be anyway? Any ideas?

Thanks perspective and all the other,

The DVD master will be finished tomorrow  After their will surely be time for production ( 1 week ) plus time for shipping ( 1 week ) .
Sorry for the late again.

Check the brush kit for GIMP of the DVD here, I posted it to my blog around a weeks ago :
http://www.davidrevoy.com/?article29/free-brush-kit-for-chaos-and-evolutions

PS : This thread is the official thread to talk, the DVD menu will have a link here to discuss about it later. I will keep posting here.

Awesome

I’m looking forward to watching the rest of your videos, the one you posted on the Durian blog is incredibly easy to follow and has so much information in it.

Thanks!

Oh great. Seems I preordered it just in time. But Since shipment to non EU countries takes about 3 weeks I will still have to wait for about a month.
Whatever. In about that time my tablet will arrive finally so it fits.
Can´t wait :DDD

Yeah, my order is in but I’m betting at least three weeks before us Aussies get it

Just ordered mine, really looking forward to it.
According to the first post it will have a patched version of gimp painter, is this true, cause i’ve been trying to get it to work on my pc, but it just doesn’t work.

Also, (already asked this on the blog but) is it possible to get my ordered copy signed at the durian premiere?

Anyway ty david for creating this

Just got my copy, looks really awesome goes watchin

Wohoo Month you got your copy before me  I wait them at Toulouse since I’m not for the moment at the Blender Institute.

ooooh, excited…wonder how long it will take to land in Los Angeles.
