My two favourites in the lead ooh boy happy days
I completely agree ! Glad I'm not the only one haha
These are some really solid themes, I'll be excited no matter what :D
I can volunteer as a part-time artist :) I haven't made anything scifi in abit but if you give me something I can give a crack :D
+Spaceship (someone might get it working :D?)
+Atlas texture, blend only uses 3 png files in total. left some space for more textures :)
*Made the other alien blue
I may have...
I believe thtas the one I have :)
I have begun !
I am next!
Fair point, Lostscience you could email it to me?
I havent actually done anything, was just calling it for when Lostscience re-uploads the zip. Lostscience can you upload the zip to theorysend and I could give a crack at compression ?
Well with good texturing skills of course!
A nice touch is to enable slow parent in the object properties panel, set around to .1 or .2 for just a little more mmpf
I am next ! :D
Theme ideas off the top of my head; Art, Music, Interaction, Nonsense, Puzzles, Possibly Patterns?
Also thought another fun theme idea would be a black box type thing, where you download a zip...
That makes sense!
Strange with the FPS there. Never dropped more than a few past 60 here
This is actually a great resource 5 Stars for this. I keep coming back to this script haha its so versatile !
Also if you press w, then shift, then let go of w but hold shift the sprinting animation will continue to play but motion stops. This movement feels good though. Good work as always!
Looks and feels pretty good, noticed some funny buisness when pressing A/D and Shift. Gun, aiming, shooting, etc working smoothly! Not sure what exactly I'm building here or what it should do but I...
New video explaining the dynamic music in mink.
Movement update! No longer tilting the mink with animations, other than the bobbing effect its all IK based.
Yes it it! :D go to the object panel of your object/section of terrain and generate a LOD for it :)
Cool! Can't wait to see more!
Oooooh very nice thank you! I swear everyday after I get home from work is like Christmas morning, opening the unread forums to see what new and exciting resources you (and many others) have brought...
This video is making me purr... Very nice work !
MMk just to clarify that gray sphere is a skydome. I'm 95% certain this is what you need. you are welcome to use it and the texture I provided. I made it gray so you could easily adjust the color...
Something like this perhaps?
With nothing other than BluePrintRandoms lovely DragAndDrop script! Cheers Thanks!
Made this modular scifi corridor while ago for Wrectified, you might find some use for it :)
Wow good job man this is looking incredible 5 stars from me mate! Only constructive criticism would be about some of the textures seam too clean, feel like some grunge maps would really blend those...
New Video :D
Looks good! Drone's flying looks really smooth, my only two cents is a reminder to be careful of copyright infringement, some of those textures look borrowed, and although I don't think valve would...
@MarvinCJames Cheers ! Thanks yeah particles are pretty, thinking of using easyEmit to get some smoother looking ones!
@ffuturezx Thanks will do!
Just a little teaser, been doing lots of work...
Hey ! Cheers ! Loving your fps series by the way! Really helping me me get back into the blender groove!
Mink is a third person puzzle game. The twist, the puzzles are all sound based and require the player to make music throughout the game !
These are models from about a year ago. Just sitting on my computer, better someone be using them!
been a while since I've been on the site but I'm working on a new project! hopefully I'll have a...
Someone gives EyeBall useful constructive criticism and he throws it back at them. Hmm, this looks familiar.
looks good! I dont even know if you need hair, maybe you could do short hair with texturing, like a buzz cut almost, but I think it looks pretty good as is :)
Looks good, love the style. That geometry around the biceps looks like its adding up, are you planning on using a normal map?
To access it through logic just do scriptname.example :)
Disregard my link. If professor M has a tutorial on it, its the one to use
Here is an old tutorial on health bars, should still work :) because its an overlay scene I don't think you'll need to use GlobalDict, so you can probably get away with using messages
Cant play it cause I'm using a very old mac at the moment, but this looks cool! That bloom effect looks really nice, especially in combination with the mist, is it a 2D filter?
So its CC-BY ?
I like this retro theme idea! As for prizes I personally think we don't need them, sure it's fun to have something, but being in charge of the next one and getting your name in the hall of fame is...
If your question was answered then it wasn't a waste of time :)
Found this a while back, you might find it useful.
MrPutuLips is pretty spot on, I usually block out my levels with basic meshes to see how it flows before getting into the heavy modelling.
Looks good, are you using normal maps/specular maps/reflection maps for the gun?
*throws fairy dust at mrchaoslama*
Enjoy some low poly assets! CC-0 ;)
This could be useful, but I don't see the point. Would it not be better to just have a sticky thread?
do you mean bump map or normal map? cause I've scene the two be confused before.
If you mean normal map, here is a tutorial by ThaTimst3r.
If you mean bump, thats a whole other can of worms, both...
Thank you! It's nice to pick up on an old project, not sure why I ever abandoned this game :P
Neat! This method definitely has more applications than the old keyframe method!
This is looking great! You could potentially combine this with the rigify addon to create some really quick, nice, working rigs.
So until the 7th I'll be on vacation, and there for away from my home computer, and unable to work on my game project, So I've decided to pick up on this project while I'm on vacation.
Very good job sir! Keep at it :)
Yeah, that's probably the far more effective, I just stumbled upon this while working on my game and thought I would upload it :)
Looks nice, almost seems like there is a tiny outline on some of the objects, My game also takes place in a post-apocalyptic area. I've got some assets you could have if you're interested.
Probably not the best way to do it, but there's no python so it's easier for most people.
you could add a grip/handle coming out the side.
Right now I've got 2 hemi lamps lighting the scene, once I get the entire map finished, I'm most likely going to bake an AO for the ground and find a nice lighting solution so it doesn't look as...
This game is not dead, I've just been very busy.
Dont use actual bullets for the shooting.
1. Bullets travel too fast anyways, you wouldnt see them fire
2. They act weird
I would recommend using rays to do the shooting. This way you can have...
Parent to vertex
I guess it depends on the type of game, DayZ's inventory system for example is reasonable for a survival zombie game, you really have to be picky about what you grab because it all effects you later...
Perhaps the slider could control a proper which controls the light level of a sum lamp in your scene.
Not sure if its just me (colorblind) but I don't see anything in those screenshots, just blackness
How to do intros and cutscenes:
As for the cube smashing, have 2-3 different cubes with an overlay breaking...
upload it to a hosting site like imgur and paste the link
Uploads seem fine to me, try again :)
There is no such thing as a dumb question! :)
cant really tell if you are doing it or not from the screenshots, but you could try adding some reflection maps to your windows, and glass on the watch. could add some really nice detail :)
A little outdated, but the same principles still apply. http://www.tutorialsforblender3d.com/Blender_GameEngine/OverlayScene/OverlayScene_1.html
ThaTimst3r also has a nice tutorial on explosions if you are a more visual learner.
The Vehicle Update
I finally got around to smoothing out those rough physics-based edges for my vehicle set up, still some work to be...
Zerhox has the right idea, making the player cube and all of its children invisible when you enter a car, parenting it to the car, and changing the camera would probably be the best bet, this way...
Interesting, thanks guys!
Just a couple of python questions, not urgent, and I'm sure most or all of these are easily possible, just wondering if anyone knows how to achieve these (: thanks in advanced
- Displaying an...
Thats an interesting saying.
or maybe have an empty parented to the item, which tracks to the player, and casts a ray, this way its the object casting the ray, not the player? Just an idea.
Attach the Ray sensor to a message actuator? The item will receive the message, and then you can have the item do what you need.
Lots of these are already easily do-able. For starters, material collision already exists, just add a collision sensor and tick the M/P box, switched it from material or property. Limit rotation can...
In the timeline editor you can change where the animation runs in the viewport. In the logic editor, you can change where is starts IG
Interesting, Never really looked into specularity maps, but I'll give it a go!
Yeah I bake an Ambient occlusion & Normal for the textures. My texturing is never really as good as I want it to be, so I try and compensate with normal maps, reflection, etc.
Playing around with some buildings. Game takes place in the distant future, so I'm going for a futuristic look, but trying to keep them practical. Sooo, yeah. they are all pretty low poly for...
Open your eyes people!
just a quick test using the decimate modifier, you should try and do it yourself for practice though :)
A good way to get rid of seams is to texture paint, i noticed in your blend you did this, as for making a low poly model, you've got a couple of options.
1. Retopology, remove the sub-surf, delete...
here you go. When the coin is near the player, it sends a message to the score to add 1, you can specify the target to only send to 1 target, or have it do multiple things on multiple objects, like...
Can you upload then blend?
Right??? Really nice work sir!
I have! Very interesting game, I think it does have some similar characteristics, but space engineers has been taking a new path recently and has been gearing towards making a survival space game.
Its the right link. Press F10 while youre driving
Thanks! Looks pretty good IG, might need some lights, but that's something that can be added later (: Whats nice is the walls, halls, etc, only use that one texture!
crouch button -------------and-----------------Armature Action & Collision Box Action
The first action plays your characters crouch
The second plays the animation where you collision box' size is...
Hey, just thought i would share this here. not sure if you can use it or not but its a modular space station set up, you can just take the parts and put em where you want :) anyway here you go...
Very helpful! Thank you!
Thanks! Yeah, I've always had trouble finding realistic light settings, my current set up was really geared towards realistic shadow casting, but I'll definitely be tweaking it before the next update...
