Messing with voxels-
Come on! :P That sucks.... Topdown 3D voxel though would be rough. ;)
Your right, I just like it, and wish it was not so popular...
Also does anyone have a recommendation for a good Voxel engine, or is UE4 a good choice?
I have never seen a scifi voxel game.... :eyebrowlift2: hmmmm....
How would I go about being different while maintaining the voxel aesthetics though? I know I want it to be on diffrent planets, and use bright colors.
Argh, I forgot about that too.... Basically no medieval, voxel games. :( Love to watch the series when it comes out.
What is your all opinions on setting a 3d voxel game apart from Minecraft or Cubeworld? There are so many voxel ripoffs of Minecraft that I don't want to use much of its style, but once you start...
I might be able to help you. What specifically do you need to know/learn?
So amazing! By far one of the best games ever deved on this engine and all in 2.49..... :eyebrowlift2:
No problem. I'll prolly get on some more. The game is not yet on par with other mmos imo in terms of graphics, but it is fine for a bge one. ;) I get that an mmo is meant to be a team game. I hope...
I like the idea, but the implementation is a tad interesting. My loading processes was a bit weird, and buggy. Then when I joined my character glitched out a few times. The graphics are okay but the...
Bugfixes in a game engine!!!??? :spin:  :p
That's awesome! I always thought of this, but my tests ended badly. :p What were your bake settings?
Any good tuts for this yet? I followed the wiki but it left alot to be desired. :P
Thanks! It was super rough and quick, but I think it would be fun to polish. There are a few pretty bad bugs to work out, but I could definitely cover the basic mechanics for others.
This is the result of a bit of L-bricking-
Not as good as python obviously, but I was impressed it worked. :eyebrowlift2: Ill do a tut if anyone...
Thank you everyone! I pretty much figured that it would involve coding, but since Im leanifng Java right now for modding MC I cant really stop and learn python. :P I'll probably try out Godot and UE...
Nice! How did you setup the .exe installation? Im installing now. ;)
This is one if the most highly polished games I have seen on the BGE. Do you have any tutorials/ones to recommended using python in the bge?
Darn... Does Unreal cost 20 bucks a month or is it possible to pay 20 bucks for a month once and keep your verison? :p If its 20 bucks a month, I can do that for my messing around projects.
No way to use culling for performance? :( KK Ill check it out. I really would rather make my idea th the bge than anything else. :p I dont mind a script for the placing.
Is it possible to set up a voxel like building and removing system in the bge without python? And if not are there any python scripts for it? :eyebrowlift2:
Ah, I could never get good results that may be why. The example looked good. Ill try this out on some models.
Interesting, I had only seen generated give crappy results before. :p Did something change recently?
Thanks man! Yea greebles have never really done it for me, I like the sleek curved lines better. :eyebrowlift2:
Box mapping? I've heard of that before but never used it.
Concept for Hover Bike done with skin modifier-
Quick Material Test-
Thanks! I want to mess around with layered texture paint but have no idea on how to yet, I just saw it in the release notes. Have you been painting with that at all?
New robot head using the new curve brush + line brush combined with the previous method.
More detail on the Robo Neck-
Tesseract Glass Test-
Im interested in doing some video tuts, but Camtasia is 300 bucks. Before I make the plunge on that I figured I'd ask everyone if they know of a free/cheaper alternative.
Thanks! I'm going to try some more low-poly soon with better materials.
More work with the skin modifier and cyclops mk. 2-
Thanks Vicky! Post pro is a delicate line to tread for me. :P The skin modifier is awesome. You should try an abstract piece with it.
Thanks! It is really nice actually compared to what I thought it would be. I am hoping to add some hard-surface sculpting or modeling then texture it, but we will see. :eyebrowlift2:
Skin modifier testing-
Testing more materials-
Thanks both of you! This thread post #33 contains the addon-
Add-on test (Fiber Bounce/Mesh-
Expand the image for full size.
The Paper Clip (Just a material test :P)
Cyclops remake. I need to bring over Zbrush to my new computer before I retopo him.
I picked up a student license for Octane and here is the first test render-
Drone. Next up is to track some footage and throw this in spying on someone. :p The materials are still very much and WIP and I haven't got around to that much texturing yet, but the metal looked...
Looks really nice! Im really liking the series so far. :ba:
Thank you! Im working on materials/texturing better.
Thanks again. I will!
Thanks guys! Yea my textures weren't very big being that I'm not a Cg textures premium member, so I'm limited to smaller sizes.
I did not realize how blurry/bright it got until posting it.
Nice! This would make a crazy background.
Thanks! I always felt like my materials/textures were lacking severely along with my hardware so I hope to really crank out some quality material work in the near future.
Re-rendered cups. :p
Sure. The images are just some grunge textures.
Some post-pro (Eh this may be to bright now.)-
Testing my new Geforce 770 GPU, Cycles 200 samples. Under a minute for render times. (With and without Post)
Sorry bro that is a little outside of my field of knowledge, but this was based on a a reference which shows it pretty similarly.... :eyebrowlift2:
Thank you both! In just a year I feel like I have progressed nicely. I still have so much to learn still, but with this new hardware I think everyone will be able to see a noticeable change in...
With more realistic glass-
Thank you again. Here it is with fogged up glass. I still need to add some nice scratches over more of it.
Thanks! Argh! How could I forget the glass... I guess I got caught up in the shininess of it. Ill work on that.
Interested in what could be better. Tell me what you think-
With a gpu you can tweak your materials/textures so much better. For an artist near instant feedback on lighting and those is so helpful.
My new desktop screen saver-
Vase at 1000 samples (1:30 minutes)-
Finally! I spent just over eight hours building my new computer and getting it running. The difference in render times is insane. 45 seconds versus 45 minutes insane. :D First renders on the system...
Dat Post Pro-
Rubiks Cube (Cycles) [I know the dof is over the top]
More with Remesh/Yafaray-
Messing with ANT+Remesh-
This statement makes no sense to me... Sorry but I don't get it.
Messing around with the booltools addon which is completely awesome (I tried to make this without extruding as much as I could only cutting parts away)-
Thanks! I have the parts for my new computer and am going to build it probably over the weekend. I need that geforce 770!
Messing with caustics (photon mapping)-
Messing with caustics in yafa-
Rerender in yafa-
Nice! Great lightning and composition! Starbugs! ;) Great piece of art.
Yea I have the same errors. :( Thanks!
@VickyM72 Sure if you want me to, I'd love to animate it. :P How well I could would be the question. :D Im going to see what kind of explosions I can do in cycles. Muahahahahaha!
Ah Im on 2.71 that may be it.
Remaking this oldie (See I made that head for a reason ;))-
Yafaray wont let me use the new versions. :( Is there an updated yafa I should know about?
Great pic! You nailed the lighting for that at least imo. How long is are the render times? To long to do an animation? :eyebrowlift:
Thanks Vicky! Yea I have seen that movie one too many times. I have the bounces turned down to bare minimum for the glass, and not much in the scene. But going from a cpu to a 770 nvidia...
Quick Dyntopo Dragon-
I dont think you technically have to mention who did the concept art it is just nice. :p
Great work! I really like the color scheme. Only thing that subtracts from it is the orange, the...
