That has promise...
Maybe the "dancers" have to limbo out?
I tried to like the large stones but in the end just could not bring myself to keep them.
Still hate the lighting so I will probably be scrapping it all in a few minutes.
Good luck, let me know how the build turns out.
Not sure what changes they made but there is a 900 series version of CUDA 6.5 you guys may want to check out.
I did not mean to imply that you had cut the tile size at my behest. If you note the time stamps you'll see that you were posting about the change while I was rendering with it. Just an observation I...
Funny you should mention that, I just cut the Y in half and rendered it out to see what a more optimized tile would net me.

I render both stills and animation. (See my sig for a link to my current animation project and detail of render sizes and times)
I have the 750's because the 900's were not out when I decided to...
I was speaking to the top of the bottles appearing to intersect with the cabinet itself.
Your main card will be short however much memory is used by your desktop and UI.
At idle with nothing but my two monitors running I am showing 156MB usage on my primary.
If I launch Blender and the...
My bad, I totally read 290x in that list for some reason.
The only benefit I know of to running the ATI up front is it frees the CUDA cards of any memory responsibility as far as you desktop is concerned. I have considered that direction myself but have no...
The fluid surfaces seem flatter now, what did you change? Or is it just angle?
Is it just me or do you have some bottles clipping in those rounded cabinets?
I have 3x 750Ti and it breaks down basically like this for me:
1x 4 min 00 sec
2x 2 min 00 sec
3x 1 min 20 sec
Look closer at the 780s before you drop your cash on the 900's.
The 780 has a...
Not using any at all for the time being.
Right now I am jumping back and forth between the cameras I used to block in the project.
Once I have a camera path dialed in I'll begin working on camera...
looking forward to it
Going with a mist pass or will you be venturing into volumetrics?
Very much looking forward to working through these.
Thank you very much for all your effort.
I was indeed talking about the vodka, it looks more convex than concave.
if you want you can send me just the glass and I'll look at it for you.
Also keep in mind that acrylic gets its frosted edges from a combination of saw marks and polishing.
Two separate materials can be used to great effect to make this happen in cycles.
Martini material looks terrific.
I have a question about the mesh: is it a clone of the inside of the glass that you filled in the top of?
It just seems to round up into the center rather than bow...
Oh and you have a great start here, keep it up.
click edit post then click go advanced.
scroll down to manage images.
Thanks. :spin: I'll get it all eventually.
Here you go.
The more I tinker with it the more I like it but I am flying blind so I have no idea if I am approaching it correctly.
I added my third card back in and my times at 720p are running 1 min 23/27 sec...
Added in some chump ass headlamps so I could get a better idea of what the fog was doing.
Timing on the cars is way off but I just needed to see the fog working for now.
The 780Ti has more cores and a faster memory interface than the 980.
Did you scale the fluid object up to sit within the walls of the glass?
That will help tremendously with the refraction coming off correctly.
Glad you got it running.
The volumes are not baked at all. They are rendered along with everything else.
Very classy indeed!
Silly question maybe but did you install CUDA 6.5?
Coming along nicely Harley.
I really love the studio renders of the props, very clean and great color.
Is it the reflected wood that is turning it coppery looking or is the lighting that different?...
Should be a strait forward update then.
Download the latest driver and CUDA 6.5 to Downloads
Open a virtual console (Ctrl+Alt+F2) and log in
Make downloads your active directory:
Which desktop are you running and do you already have the proprietary drivers installed?
Thanks Harley, here is another of the volume fog doing its thing.
To answer your question about the volumes, there are two cubes using...
Playing with the volumetric shader as a means of closing off the open ends under the bridges.
So far so good and my render times are coming in around 2 min 38 sec which I find acceptable for now....
It ain't all that man. One of these days I'll get it smokin' fast again.
I animated the film grain a bit as Harley recommended then adjusted the mist levels just a touch.
Thanks Harley, glad you are digging the alternate angles.
I am trying to keep myself from build just to what the animated camera will see.

Generally speaking Ghost it is a monitor profile issue. You can specify which one Windows and your monitor/applications will use but sometimes they can reset to default and you start all over again....
Some cards come that way and I have my factory times posted as well.
I think it gives people an idea of what they can expect from their hardware should they decide to tinker.
But this is your gig...
Well my computers are being stupid again and the color is wrong on each machine so there is no telling how this will view for any of you. It looks fine in Blender and in GIMP but in windows viewer or...
Updated my Nvidia driver and OCed my cards again.
2x GTX 750 Ti 2GB (1395MHz)
Still not getting any environment lighting in Linux.
Any thought from anyone?
Thanks Harley. The noise was the first thing I noticed this morning when I ran it.
A total oversight on my part, I should have just turned the post off since all I wanted to see what how the Cycles...
Got the materials converted over to Cycles last night and dropped in some lighting.
Was really liking how it was looking so I let the first 200 frames...
So am I and thanks. :)
And disk one is completed!
Next comes the the conversion to Cycles and the finer detailing of the environment.
No big, glad it was not a machine issue on my end, the sky must be however because I am rendering again under Windows and the clouds are colored. Maybe my Nvidia driver for Mint? I'll update it and...
Missing materials when I render: Default pink on the bottoms of the cubes and on the scooter and the clouds have no color.
GTX 750 Ti 2GB
2x GTX 750 Ti 2GB
It could be that I added a skybox with a shadeless material vs the sun/sky setting I had been using which is making the bloom effect stand out a bit more. The lighting here is going to get thrown out...
Finally got 2.72 installed:
2x 750Ti - Linux Mint
Cornell Bench 2.71 307x307 - 03:13.24
The BMW file renders white and hangs forever on the first tile.
I'll run these again next time I boot...
I'll pm you my shipping address you can just send it right over. :RocknRoll:
Thanks Harley, went back and dirtied up the lower parts of the tall light poles as well.
Here is everything on the first DVD completed except for the bridge truss which i'll start tonight.
Thanks Aidy! Coming from you that truly means a lot.
It has been quite the challenge and well worth the investment, I am learning all sorts of new stuff.
For me it was just a matter of never getting around to learning it.
I've only been Blending for a year and a half so I'm still learning what the package can do.
Well I got tired of looking at...
Guess I should have quoted with my reply.
I'd take the bar over the fireplace any day myself. ;)
Fireplace all the way.
That is superb, don't let my wife see it or I'll have to figure how to fit it in the apartment.
Thanks for checking in guys.
To be honest I feel they are a bit out of place myself but the scale it what Aidy is calling for so I'll reserve final judgment until its closer to completed.
So here we have all the stone assets in play.
Next should be the bridge trusses but I think I am going to skip them for now and start cranking out props.
I'm not sure about the light glows, I would imagine there is a way but I have not messed with the lighting yet so that is on my wait and see list.
Thanks man, it is fun but a constant struggle to pay attention and stay focused.
Years of doing it the wrong way are impeding my ability to learn a positive and constructive work flow but I feel I...
Seriously man, this is a fine looking model!
That is a fine piece of furniture.
Some concrete wall pieces.
Yeah, I have been all over the place with them I know but it has been a heck of a thing learning how to use GIMP to paint my own stuff. The last image is how each of the brick sets will look going...
Minoribus, here is one with the red brick like you suggested.
I think I will for sure keep it in the mix.
Brought in the large stones just so I had a shot with the completed stone works.
All of the small brick parts in one shot.
Moving on to concrete I believe.
I must say that these are looking great.
Loving the color palette and lighting.
In the process of adding some grunge to it so ignore the incomplete state but here you can see the shape of the wall a bit better. The cap and footer are seperate pieces as is the center detail and...
So what is the purpose of changing the file name?
Is it reason specific to the 970/980s or is it Maxwell in general?
They actually do stick out from the wall. :)
I can try the red bricks only.
Got the wall cap and footer finished and added a detail for the center which I think breaks it up nicely.
The center detail was supposed to be the cap but turned out it looked better here so...
A little more detail work on the bricks.
I think I'll leave them be for now until I get them in the secen and see if they need more or less.
I ain't all that great "old" man, you could do it easy enough. If I can learn it anyone can. lol
Here are the small bricks again but in a wall pattern rather than a floor pattern.
Thanks Harley, I got it just about wrapped up tonight.
I still want to add a bit of water staining maybe but I sort of like them how they are.
The shower is cool looking, like showering in a cascade of sparks.
Added some color variation so there are 3 different base colors in the mix.
I think this should be a nice base to start from for grundging it up.
First run low poly bake of the larger wall bricks.
Lighting is just a VERY rough approximation so that I can begin bringing the materials closer together now that they are, for the most part, where they belong. The decal will take some playing with...
Not sure why it is being done this way, just following along and learning as I go.
Thanks for the feedback. Just got another material put together, learning a lot about GIMP in this series which...
Thanks, means a lot to hear that.
Sorry your roads suck. ;) Bwahahahahaha
Now I like the asphalt and I removed some of the sidewalk fracturing.
I think it feels more natural now, thoughts?...
Sweet! Here we go again. This time I'm in at the beginning. lol
I am not sure if it is to teach BI as a render method so much as it is to illustrate how it can be used for fast realtime previewing as you work up to the point of your final render or animation. The...
Really well executed.
Man this is really starting to come together.
What did you end up doing for the belt?
Pulleys came out nice.
OS: Win 7 Home Premium 64
CPU: AMD 1090t @ 3.2 GHz
Tiles: 16 x 16
I do not know about OSX because my Mac Mini has the Intel GPU.
My Linux box however is running CUDA 6.5 and I GPU render on it just fine.
Very nice looking work. Thanks for detailing some of your process.
To your first point, I am not using Cycles so there is not a Node Tree to share.
This leads to your second to which the answer is yes I am using three materials. (Diffuse, Normal, Speculatity)
I'll download the blend tomorrow if I have time and look at your set up.
In the mean time have you checked Blender Guru?
I think there is a tutorial over there for motion tracking that used BI.
Cycles? If so in the render panel under "Film" check Transparent, that will remove any background images, HDRIs and such.
Are you outputting to a video format or to an image sequence? If a sequence,...
The animation is the same as before, just needed to see the materials in motion.
I was starting to second guess some of the detail decisions I had made.
Got the dirt layer in then went back and reworked the dirt for the curbs to bring all together a bit more.
I think I may be starting to get the hang of this.
I was being an idiot! ;)
Somehow the plane I was baking to had lost it's UVs???
Anyway I am much happier with the resulting bake progression than I was before.
Now to make it dirty and move on...
