Hi,

Based on an idea of my daughter.

Modelled with Blender
Rendered with Yafray
Rendering time : +/- 16 min on a Core 2 duo 6700 with the 64bits version of Yafray (Thanks Graphicall). The same rendering took about 28 min with the 32bits version !!

Quite interesting, nice modeling..maybe a little bland concept wise.
4 stars, good job man

Nice! Interesting play with reflections here!

Not as super realistic as other stuff you've done though...

Thanks for your comments,

Yes, this is a quite simple scene, it was not intended to get a realistic result, it was just a wink.

I like the concept, it really reminds me of M.C. Escher's "reflective sphere".
Although visually it could be made better...

Some how the pig crying made me laugh.
Good job.

Great! the pig's tear was a nice and sublte touch - I almost missed it. The kid's expression is also good. She looks like a cold-hearted killer! No remorse there!

Flawless...raw talent in natural form here! "Great job!" would be an understatement here! Insanely, terrifically, perfectly, inhumanly great job!

Looks great! Nice scene and good render! :D
The paperclip looks a bit too big in comparison with the pen.

Always pleased to see your work

One quick question: whats with the Birdie?

enricoceric
05-Dec-06, 06:36
Thanks to all,

@ Framedworld : I added the birdie just to get some color and something relating to kid toys. Basicaly I wanted to create a mess desk just like the one of my daughter but I didn't add as many stuffs as I liked.

@gallardo : You are right the paperclips are a bit big as well as the pins, I will try to fix that.

Great scene! I'm quite curious about the Yafray-settings. Could you share those with us? (learning Yafray)

I think you should play with the colours to get more depth, it seems a little bland and flat to me. However, I love the concept and it definitely gets a smile from me. Good work.

Thanks again to all,

I made some changes in the light and as suggested by Gallardo I reduced the size of the paperclips and the pins.

Hi there,

I'm afraid I missed the meaning of the tear until people mentioned it. Did you consider naming the piggy-bank "Wilbur", after the character from Charlotte's Web, ["I don't wanna die!"]? Anyway, great pic (review from a Blender newbie). Later,

very good! My first thought was: oh....just a pig...then I saw the reflection, haha awesome. 5 stars from me!

Did you actually model the girl and background reflection, or is that a texture. If so that was a lot of work. Good job!
I like the concept as well.
5 stars from me.

Thanks to all,

@2disbetter : The background is an HDRI image (kitchen) and the girl was basicaly exported from DAZ Studio and reworked with Blender.

Cool piece! I'd be really interested to see a version with your actual daughter's reflection in the piggy bank. Reason being that most of the objects in the picture approach photorealism, but the girl is of a more cartoon-ish stylized look, so I feel it somewhat detracts from the unity of the scene as a whole to have those two different styes. The badminton birdie is impressive.

Really your daughter's idea was great. You can see the crying pig which has to be broken now.

I agree....it really brings the pic out of balance....btw, how exactly did you do the pigs texture (it's perfect!)

Nice Job!I have a question.Did you really put a lot of time into modelling just the reflections?
If you didn't model the reflections:

If you did:

Really nice, i especially like how you only get the full meaning of the picture when you look at the reflections

Nice idea :D

great idea and work.
but i fill like you could make a more interesting and clear composition. i also think that the pose of the girl could be much stronger (and yeah even if its just a little girl)

I think there should be more focus on the tear. It's kind of lost in the many different things to look at.

When a picture "tells a complete story," and does it in a humorous way, then "you just can't get better than that."

Great concept and execution. It tells a great story when you look at it. First you notice only the pink pig, but suddenly, you see the reflection of the approaching girl. Then you see she has a hammer and that is when you notice the tear. Even though it is a still, I feel like I have watched a moving scene. Great job!

My only suggestion is that the environment it is in seems a little staged and sparse. But over all, I loved it.

07-Sep-11, 02:36
nice reflection and pig emotions...
I just think it would be more cool if the character in the reflection would look more active, by that I mean like it doesn't really look as if the character is actually smashing the big, but just holding the hammer in the air and looking at the pig with no emotion...
but very nice work!
