Sonix.
DANG MAN
great work i been following this from the WIP
looks like the ref pics lol
the only notisable diff is that there is a reflection on the door in the original lol
the overhang lamp right next to the curtains isnt closed lol
the lights are a little to low, they should be further up inside the light fixture
and the right monitor (the white 1) seems to be at the wrong angle
but anyways thats just the stuff that cought my eye

Beautifully finished work, nice to see it without grain. One crit(even though i know it final for the contest), the specularity on the back chair seems off to me, but still great work! (*****) Too bad you had that crash so close to the deadline.
Unreal! In a very real scense.
That is incredible Sonix! Only I think there needs to be more definition between the two doors.
Easily 5 stars from me!!!
Insane amount of work, but it paid of. :) 5*
Truly amazing and inspiring work, Sonix! 5 stars!

Amazing work Sonix, I followed your WIP and this is the result of your talent and your great modelling skills.
Congrats
Enrico
I must say, I had to double check several times to see whether the render was the reference picture or not! This is an astonishing piece of work, Sonix! VERY well done indeed.
wow. when i first loaded the page i thought that was the reference photo, and was wondering where the render was(i had a look at the wip thread a while ago). great work.
---Shamem
This turned out great sonix. Congrats and good luck.

Good work!
I liked the grey shaded ones a little bit better though...seemed more...yea, well,
realistic. But great work, man! 5 stars for the detailed modeling!

Amazing. The thing that makes it so convincing is that it doesn't have that clean look many of those interieur renders have.
You get 5 Mr.T's from me.. http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v483/sago/Pics/Emoticons/MrT.gif http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v483/sago/Pics/Emoticons/MrT.gif http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v483/sago/Pics/Emoticons/MrT.gif http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v483/sago/Pics/Emoticons/MrT.gif http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v483/sago/Pics/Emoticons/MrT.gif ... well deserved.

s-d-james, you're right but I think it's mainly down to the noise level. I didn't let that one cook for very long.

Hey sonix, hope you haven't already answered this but what do you have in your rig? Processor, memory, video card, os, etc.
2d
P.s.: The pic is simply amazing. 5 stars from me.
Thank you. :D
David, I only did the screen fingerprints, none on any other surfaces. Perhaps the DUI control surface and the mice could do with some though.
2disbetter, thanks. Machine spec is a Boxx Technologies 7400 twin 244 Opteron (1.8GHz single core), with 4GB of RAM (2GB per CPU) and a QuadroFX 1400 GFX Card, with 2 monitors. Running Win XP Pro x64.
Not sure it is eligible for the Gallery as it's not a pure Blender project. Might be if I'd used the scanline or Yafray renderers though.

WoW
I think this is one of the most realistic renderings, I´ve ever seen.
Really Really NICE WORK!!
Regards Michael
Excellent work. The way the lights interact with the computer screens is just plain awesome. Good job on the details as well.

Congratulations! I see you are now jamming to a spiffy new ipod.
Congratulations, arr! Great modelling, man ;) There are few things that could be better (shading on some objects) but its awesome nevetheless!
Just out of curiosity....I wonder how and Indigo render would compare to the Maxwell render in terms of visual quality and speed.

I just have to say it's stunning work.
The only things that break it for me is the chairs seem slightly floaty on the ground (normally GI renderers are good for that so I have no idea) and in close ups the lack of bevelling on the edge of some things (Blender is so annoying for adding that after).
Still, I feel bad criticising at all considering I thought it was a set of photos for a few minutes!

I too thought it was a reference pic... shame on me. Fantastic work, though I think there is just a tad too much grain.
Thanks. A tutorial will follow in the next few weeks.
I'm not sure if there is a 7zip for Macs, so I'll upload a .zip version. However if you can get a form of Winrar for the Mac, that will open .7z files.
Sonix.

I hope you find it helpfull.
Sonix.
haha....you totally owned that contest ;)
There is one thing that's confusing me; You don't appear to have mentioned to anyone that you actually won. I realise being humble is a classy thing to do but c'mon!. You had high class opposition in that contest and deserve a lot of kudos.
This should also be posted in news and chat...that tute will be useful for a lot of new users. Lots of handy tricks in there. Come to think of it, I'm posting a thread, whether you like it or not.
Great work!
Great picture. When I first saw it I was like 'Huh, that's a complicated photo to reference, I wonder how much of the modeling he did?'
Stunning work Sonix!
Congratulations on winning the contest.

The only crit I have is that door is incredibly different from the one in the photo. Amazing as usual though.
The technical achievement is good but I have to say this is one of the worst good images I've seen. I honestly hate that scene. It's so drab and lifeless. Please don't tell me that's where you work.
The realism is very well done though the grain still gives it away. But if you look at the curtain, the reference picture actually looks like it was rendered.
Congratulations on your win. For the technical achievement, you would've been the clear winner but I think some of the other images look more attractive. I'm a sucker for those scenes where sunlight shines through the window and radiates a room.
And those render times. 26 hours! 1.79 GB Ram peak! I mean, this is just one image and there's still grain after all that. How long would you have had to leave it to get rid of all the grain? Can't the renderer blur it or something?

Superb work, Sonix. If it weren't for the (very) slight changes in detail, I could swear it was the reference image - a well deserved first place!
The tutorial seems to be unavailable now. (filehosting.cc answers : "Your requested file is not found"). Is there a mirror anywhere ?
