Here is my picture inspired by art of Albrech Dürer.
Modelling done in sculp mode based on few metaballs as basic shape.
Everthing was made in blender and gimp.

Brilliant work ! was following this in the 'focussed critique' <silently>
is there going to be a coloured version :)
crit:
the hand pose does not look natural, the rest is just great
(looks like he has a tooth ache)

No, there will be no coloured version. It's designed to be BW and textures are painted for this purpose.

Very realistic and stunning piece grzybu. I love all those small details that pop up everywhere you place your eyes.

But for one crit, I don't like the beard. I think it should look a bit more... tangeled, more bushy, like this (http://content.answers.com/main/content/wp/en/thumb/a/af/250px-Wheeler.jpg), or like this (http://www.adventuremetal.com/images/Beard-O.JPG).

This man is very tidy, and his beard should be adequate to this.

this is absolute amazing. I can't believe it was done in blender. Come on man, you just made a photo of you grandpa sleeping, didn't ya?
No, just kidding. It's great.

May i ask, how long it took to model this masterpiece?

Very very impressive, congratulations. I assume that's St. Jerome, yes?

Yes, it's St. Jerome, but its based on sketch not painting. But they are quite similar.

Greetings:
Very nice, although i think some parts of the texture are a bit rough, like the nose, those pores are way too marked, and there`s something about the left eye that bothers me, not sure exactly what, anyway, besides those details a really nice work.

Impressive modeling indeed. Though there are some hairparts on the beard that act kinda strange; they suddenly point towards the left-bottom corner of the image, which looks quite unnatural. I also think changing the contrast of the image a bit and add just a little bit of color (1 tone) can make it look better.

Other than that, great work.

I tend to agree with Sago about the colour tones. Seems more like a statue here than an actual person.

Great use of the sculpt tool though.

Very impressive! That's great work with the sculp tool! Hope to get that to work some day :(.

I think the face could use a bit more specular (with more hardness). It would make the head look more realistic IMO.

Thanks for comments. I've made skin little bit lighter.

The man looks great by himself. And the head covering looks good by itself. But together, it doesn't look quite as convincing. apart from that and some previously mentioned crits, its a very good piece!

Well, after picking myself up of the floor in amazment I had a very hard critical look at this stunning piece. The only thing I can crit is probably the contrast, because the modelling is superb. It looks like a picture of a dead man, because the skin looks so 'dry'. I hope you dont take that the wrong way, it really is a work of art.

Worthy of the Forum Gallery in my opinion. Once he has finished it completely of course. ;-)

I've made a little update, mostly on man's skin.
