View Full Version : Ekkaia / Essence
Finally I can post something new here, it's been a while again.
Anyway, as usual, a lot of Post pro was involved to get the final look of the picture. Nevertheless, the renders are almost pure Blender Internal, I didn't use Yafray a lot this time. Lighting was mostly done with several Arealights and a (weak) AO. I tried to capture an underwater feeling with the lighting but it was the first time I tried to do something like that, so, every feedback is welcome.

Very well done, and realistic. Great work.
kick ath!!!
the composeting is great. you could just use it directly as an add for a new movie.
Very nice, reminds me of Shigeto Maedas (can't remember how his name is spelt, damn) style.

Myke..very unique and well constructed. Your lighting fits well in context with the modeling and the effect you have achieved.

That definitely needs some explanation of sort...

Yes, it needs some sort of explanation: as I said in the description on dA (I probably should have stated it here, too), I found a picture on the web that I used as reference for the model. However, I also said, that I didn't know who drew the picture - the reason is, that it is another picture, a smaller one, which didn't contain the name (I did not get it from Blevin's site that I didn't know before - great stuff there O_o).
Edit: linked the picture on dA already...if that is any help...
So, I'd say, thanks for pointing it out, no one else did that yet. And IF it's some kind of copyright problem now, please tell me, I definitely didn't do that on purpose. I'll remove the picture or whatever if it is....even though it would hurt because most of the basic shapes and modelling comes from my own work but I then decided to use that great picture as a reference for further detailing.
And to everyone else: thanks for the feedback, glad it works out that well but yeah...I should have stated where I got some of my inspiration from!
i am not sure if you would run into some copyright here. you rebuild the thing. even when it is a clone i thinkl your one is actualy more interesting, more detailed. just his pipe design is better.
i still stay to what i said first. great composeting and rendering.
just next time to prevent any missunderstanding post references.
references are no shame!

The only type of copyright problem might be that you took someone else's idea. And made something new of it. I personally think this is completely legitimit. But there are some nasty rogue states (like the u.s. of a) who introduced a nice little thing called intellectual property.
Which clearly shows that this whole IP stuff is nothing but a load of crap. What you did was take an idea of someone and transform it into your version of it. This is art. And from my point of view, it was very well done.
Yt,
Gunnar
Phew, thanks guys for the infos. You're right about the reference problem, although I wrote about it in the description on dA, it should have been clearly visible, not burried under tons of text (an old problem of mine...) so that everyone can see it easily.
I'll definitely remember that the next time! And once again, thanks for all the positive comments :)
Moved to gallery section.

Very nice indeed! How long have you been working on this piece?
needs a stronger perspective, otherwise very cool!
