This is my old model that finally I can finished...
For making the texture I use the new "abrasion" script by acouno (topic: http://blenderartists.org/forum/showthread.php?t=70521&page=5)
Trees created with LSystem.
Post process, fake depth of field in Photoshop.

:) That's really good endi.

Any chance you will do a tutorial
on how to use that script to get
that effect? A tutorial at the BlenderWiki
would be great.

Awesome work on that texture, Endi, and I like your post processing!
Are you going to experiment with nodes when the new release comes out?
This is really convincing....

Impressive render. Could you post before and after images of using the script?

endi
04-Jul-06, 12:00
the texture generated by the script
after working in photoshop, so this texture is the stencil texture (and it controls specular etc. too)

endi
04-Jul-06, 12:02
and the two stone texture (controlled by the stencil texture)
these textures are tiled 3x on the texture panel

Hi Endi,

Great! Beautifull modelling, great texture and nice mood. For sure I will have to try this script and the tree generator too.

Now that I've seen this I've got to get my hands on this script.

Very nice model and lighting, btw.

This is far from your best. I was a bit disapointed when I saw this image. Dont get me wrong... The texturing and modelling is awesome. But the scene doesn't got the same quality. I get very confused of the scene and don't realy know if you're lookin' down on the statue or up on it. Feels like the statue and the woods got two different perspectives. If that's intended, it just dont speak to me. But as said erlier. Very good modelling and texturing! Thumbs up for that!

Unquestionably, the modeling is superb. But the lighting, and the staging, leaves much to be desired.

The statue is, first of all, just not lit adequately. The lighting fails to achieve a clean separation between the foreground and the background, thus the latter fairly-quickly reveals itself to be a painted scrim. The textures, instead of assisting in this separation, are instead rough enough to make it still more difficult.

"Contrast is everything." The relative lighting qualities between one area and those areas which are immediately adjacent to it are essential in creating an image that both clearly appears to be three-dimensional and clearly serves-up the intended foreground object as being in the context of, yet clearly separated from, the material which surrounds it.

The modelling AND lighting AND background is just perfect!

I will see a scene so beautifull rendered like he did from you guys who say "odd lightning, odd background" etc..

Greetings and really good work!

Why on CGTalk does it say that you used 3dmax?

I was going to ask the same thing. Though, I think he likely just checked the wrong box on the submission form.

Great work, especially with the texture for the statue. I've been working with Blender on and off for about a year now, but my pictures still look REALLY ugly :-)
